In 2006 Piper won an art contest at her school hosted by the local university. She did a piece in the style of Joan Miro as a tribute to him and his work. Her piece was on display at the university for a semester and she was pretty thrilled about it...OK, so were we!
In 2007 Piper had a great teacher than did an amazing art project with them. Two of the kids in her class have parents that teach art so they got a bunch of free canvases for the class to use. They came to the class and taught the kids how to do a painting from start to finish. Planning, sketching, everything right up to the finale: an art show held at a local gallery. The parents were invited to the Gallery Opening and were able to bid on the pieces. All the money made went back to the gallery to help keep art alive in our town.

Four Eyes by Piper
Piper also has the honor of having one of her pieces framed and put on display at her school in the main lobby. It's a self portrait done in the style of DaVinci complete with backward signature.

I am so proud of Piper and her beautiful art work. One of my favorites is the piece she did on how to make rice when she was about four. Jen you have always been such a gifted artist too. Remember my Sesame Street characters you made for my crib area at home by tearing construction paper? Love them. I really love how the Lord has blessed everyone with their individual talents and as our family grows it is so awesome to see it develop on the grand scale. I think we have a very nice balance of artists, musicians, scientists, and mathematicians, and gourmet chefs, seamstresses, quilters, knitters, scrapbookers, builders, authors, designers and athletes...and best of all lots pf people willing to try things, seize their opportunities and perfect their talents. Piper, you really shine, Sweetheart, we love you so much! Keep up the great work!
Those are so great! What a beautiful artist!!
