LOST

Sooo......have I mentioned that everyone should be watching LOST?  Seriously, I haven't seen such fab TV since...since...ever!  It's so creative and bizarre and it just sucks you in. I love it. What you all need to do is rent the first season, watch the first 2 or 3 episodes and then try--just TRY to not watch the rest of it.  If you think it's too spooky or scary, it's not!  It's just the right amount of both.  Go rent it now! Dad, Miss Laura & Gail, this means you!

If you are already a fan let me know, I'd love to discuss your plot theories so leave me a comment!

2008 Oscars: Best Dress & Best Song

Helen Mirren wins for Best Dress 2 years in a row (in my opinion!)  I loved what she wore last year when she won for The Queen.  I just think she's lovely!

She looks amazing in her dress this year too!  The color is so striking and yet the sleeves are a bit unusual -they add interest.   She's a classy woman.

Also, if you haven't heard the piece that won for Best Original Song, it is great.  It's from an Irish Indie film called Once.  It's rated R for language so you could probably find an edited version if you are concerned about ratings.  You can listen to the song Falling Slowly here. This video clip is just the actors singing the song so it is rated G.   The actors are also the writers and musicians.  It is really very poignant.

Fabulous Friday

Here are some fabulous things in my life right now:

1.  Hazel is home: happy and healthy!
2.  I lost weight last week in spite of  PMS, hospital cafeteria food and watching approximately 15 hours of TV a day.  Not much but I still lost!  I even maintained the no sugar rule and did pretty well on the WW points.

3.  I made a fabulous salad  last night:  spinach, fresh blueberries, grated parmesan cheese, peas and poppyseed dressing.  It would be great with chicken or even crumbled bacon as a main dish. Yum!

4.  I am practically an RN!  OK that is probably blasphemous to any RN that reads it...sorry!   But I'm actually having fun playing nurse with Hazel and her IV meds.  I thought it was going to be really scary and hard but it's fun and after watching the nurses do it at the hospital for so long it wasn't that much of a stretch.  I have to admit that this whole experience has made the medical field more interesting to me.  I never used to be able to watch medical TV of any kind but now that it has a little personal connection, I totally love it!  Scrubs here I come!

5.  And speaking of TV, LOST is back on the air and I am so happy!  In other TV news: at the hospital I watched about 1000 episodes of What Not To Wear....FUNNY!  In addition I watched the tackiest show on earth:   How To Look 10 Years Younger.  I hate to admit it but it is also funny and they are pretty good at making people look better!

6. Last but not least:   I'm amazed at how blessed I am in so  many aspects of my life.  I have an amazing family, fabulous friends and a warm comfortable home.  What more can a girl ask for?

That about does it for me!  More later!

Let's talk TV

So a lot of you know that I grew up in a house with no TV.  That was pretty much true of my married life too until about 5 years ago. Somehow we now have 4 TV's!  How did this happen? I'm not really sure but it's true.  We still don't have cable but you can tune in a couple of local channels with our classy roof antenna.

I've discovered the best and only way to watch TV is on DVD. The most annoying thing about TV is the ads and without those it is pretty enjoyable. I've managed to watch several complete series over the last few years thanks to netflix, but my favorite one of all time is LOST.  If you aren't converted yet--rent them now and join the fun--this is definitely a series you have to watch from the begining. It is clever and really well written!  In just 10 short days we will be blessed with the season 4 premier.   To get a taste of what LOST is all about visit youtube and watch the overview clip.

What are you watching??
